The Exorcist could be heading to the small screen, with Variety reporting that Fox has ordered a pilot for a new one-hour drama series which is said to be a “modern reinvention” of William Peter Blatty’s 1971 book, which was of course adapted for the screen two years later with William Friedkin’s horror classic.
The new take on The Exorcist is described as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.”
Jeremy Slater, screenwriter of The Lazarus Project and the Fantastic Four reboot, has penned the script for the pilot, and will also serve as executive producer.
