It seems Fox is looking to add another DC show to its slate, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that the network has given a production commitment to the Black Lightning pilot from Greg Berlanti and Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil (The Game), which was revealed as in development last week.
The series will follow “Jefferson Pierce, who hung up his suit and his secret identity years ago. However, with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.”
Fox currently airs two comic book series in Gotham and Lucifer, and is also in development on a mystery X-Men project. Berlanti meanwhile is the mastermind behind The CW’s Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, as well as the planned Booster Gold movie.
