FOX has announced that it has handed out early renewals to the hourlong dramas Gotham and Empire, as well as a third season of the award-winning comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The Batman prequel series Gotham delivered FOX’s highest-rated premiere in 14 years and is averaging a 4.2 rating and 10.6 million viewers during its first season, while its live-plus-seven rating delivered the largest gain of any broadcast drama ever with +0.9.
The three join the previously renewed Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons and Family Guy on FOX’s fall schedule, along with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s anthology horror-comedy Scream Queens, which has been picked up straight-to-series. Meanwhile Gotham is the third DC show to be renewed after the news last week that The CW has ordered new seasons for The Flash and Arrow.
