It looks like we can add another revival to Fox’s ever-increasing slate, although this one is a little different…
According to Variety, the network has made a put pilot commitment to a single-camera comedy series entitled Revival, which spoofs the recent trend of TV series revivals and follows Elliot, a former child star from an 80s family sitcom now living a normal life, who reluctantly gets sucked back into the show when it is brought back for a reunion series.
Michael Showalter, director of The Big Sick, is set to helm the pilot, as well as executive producing alongside Sally Bradford McKenna (Son of Zorn), who is penning the script. Nahnatchka Khan and Mandy Summers (Fresh Off the Boat) also executive produce.
Fox has been right at the forefront of the TV revival trend, having brought back the likes of The X-Files, Prison Break and 24 to various degrees of success. Talks are also underway about possible revival for the acclaimed animated series King of the Hill.
