Ladies, and gentleman, it’s finally happening. Friday the 13th for the NES is being made into a live-action film.
I remember the first time I popped Friday the 13th into my NES. Like most NES games, I died repeatedly, and just assumed that I was just really bad at video games. In my 10 year old mind, there was no such thing as unresponsive controls, and confusing gameplay. No. The game was obviously incredible, and I was simply flawed.
Of course, I learned later that the game was fairly questionable, but that hasn’t stopped me from having a giant soft-spot in my heart for this baffling NES relic. Zombies, and all. Well, It seems that I’m not alone! Redvolver Studios is making a Friday the 13th for NES fan-film, and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
Watching footage, it’s easy to get a sense of just how much work has already gone into this project. From the ground up, this looks to be a lovingly made, live-recreation of the video game. In the trailer below, we see Jason Voorhees in his now-iconic purple jumpsuit, and hear the soundtrack from the game (which was actually really good) being brought to life with full instrumentation.
However, the movie needs your help to reach its funding goal of $1000 (currently at $907). Head on over to the project’s indiegogo page to learn more about the film, and to see some of the cool stuff you can snag by being a donor.
