Fans have been calling for it for twelve years, and now it’s finally happening… sort of.
Yes, it’s being reported that the cast of the beloved U.S. sitcom Friends are set to reunite for a two-hour special on NBC in celebration of comedy director James Burrows, who recently shot his 1000th episode of television.
However, it’s perhaps not quite the reunion fans were hoping for, as Entertainment Weekly is reporting that while the special will feature Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, all six cast members may not actually appear together.
Asked whether the show will feature all six stars on screen at the same time, NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt replied: “I’m hoping all six will be in same room at same time; I’m not sure we can logistically pull it off.”
UPDATE: It seems that the special won’t feature all six cast members after all, as Variety is reporting that Matthew Perry won’t be appearing due to rehearsals for a London play he’s starring in.
We’ll find out when the special airs on Sunday, February 21st.
