Frostkeep Studios has announced two new game modes for their fantasy survival game, Rend. The new modes, Classic and Exploration, have both been highly requested from players and will include changes to Research Sparks and Ascension Points. These new modes will go live once initial testing is completed on the Public Test Realm.
In the new Classic mode, players will battle for supremacy by waging PvP wars, laying siege to each others’ bases, collecting player bounties and capturing Control Points. Exploration mode will provide a PvE experience with no opportunities to attack other player’s bases. Both modes will allow players to band together in clans and all progression is per-character.
In both of these new modes Ascension through spirit collection is not be a win condition and Reckonings will not occur, this has been done in order to promote an uninterrupted gameplay experience on the 60 player servers.
This latest update will also see changes made to Research Sparks, this is not only to facilitate the new modes but to also improve thee original game mode, which is now called Faction War. Research Sparks will now drop from creatures with each family offering one of the four types.
Changes have also been made to Ascension Point management and will now be kept on a global tally tied to each player’s account. Ascension Points earned in any game mode will count on all servers.
