After losing out on four previous occasions, Leonardo DiCapario finally bagged himself an Oscar at the Academy Awards last night, winning Best Actor for his role in The Revenant, which was also honoured with Best Director (Alejandro G. Iñárritu) and Best Cinematography, but lost out on Best Picture to Tom McCarthy’s Spotlight.
DiCaprio was joined in the acting accolades by Brie Larson, who was named Best Actress for Room, while the supporting honours went to Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl).
Mad Max: Fury Road picked up the most gongs on the night, winning six of the technical awards: Best Film Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.
