FX CEO, John Landgraf, believes that Marvel will at some point make a Deadpool TV series.
Although Marvel shut down the planned Donald Glover animated Deadpool series for FX – a project many fans were eagerly anticipating – there might still be hope yet for a future series focusing on the foul-mouthed mercenary.
According to FX CEO, John Landgraf, who recently spoke to Variety on topics ranging from Fargo to Louis C.K., something may still come of the situation. When asked if FX could revive the series, he said:
“No. I think that Marvel will revive it, because they have the rights. They own the IP and they have the rights to do an animated adult series based on any of the X-Men characters, and based on Deadpool specifically. They didn’t want to do the show that Donald and Stephen Glover wrote. We would have done show that Donald and Stephen wrote, but it wasn’t our decision. When Marvel decided not to do that show, we parted company with them as did Donald and Stephen. Now it’s totally up to them [Marvel] whether they hire someone else to do a different show.”
So, although it appears a Deadpool series with Donald Glover is dead, Landgraf seems to think there’s a good chance that Marvel will work something else out and create a new series based on the character.
