Ever since FX’s popular series Sons of Anarchy wrapped in 2014, there have been talks of refueling the property in the form of a spinoff or prequel series. Now, that’s one step closer to becoming a reality, as the network has officially ordered a pilot for the long-rumored spinoff focusing on the rival Mayans motorcycle club.
According to Variety, the new show will follow EZ Reyes, a prospect for the Mayans charter on the California-Mexico border. EZ will “struggle with his desire for vengeance against the local cartel and his need for the women in his life to respect him.”
Mayans MC hasn’t officially been ordered to series yet, but considering the immense popularity of the original show, it’s highly likely it will be. Original series creator Kurt Sutter, who wrote 62 Sons of Anarchy episodes and directed 8 of them, will helm the Mayans MC pilot himself.
