FX orders pilot for What We Do In the Shadows U.S. TV series

January 26, 2018 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that FX has ordered a pilot for a U.S. TV series based upon Taika Waititi’s acclaimed vampire mockumentary What We Do In the Shadows.

The pilot for the half hour comedy will be directed by Waititi, with Jemaine Clement writing the script, and the duo will both serve as executive producers. It’s not clear however if they will reprise their on screen roles, as the series will feature a new cast which includes Kayvan Novak (Thunderbirds Are Go), Matt Berry (Toast of London), Natasia Demetriou (Year Friends) and Harvey Guillen (The Internship).

In addition to this project, plans continue for the spinoff sequel We’re Wolves, as well as another small screen project in Wellington Paranormal, a series following the two police officers from the movie.

Waititi is coming off the back of the Marvel blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok, and is next set to direct Bubbles, a Michael Jackson biopic, as told through the eyes of his pet chimp, while he has also been linked to the long-gestating Akira movie. Clement meanwhile is currently prepping a Flight of the Conchords revival for HBO.
