During the recent virtual global press conference for Wonder Woman 1984, a common theme through the panel was trying to keep the magic of 80s filmmaking alive during production. Joined by producer Charles Roven, co-stars Pedro Pascal, Kristen Wiig, and director Patty Jenkins, our lead Gal Gadot opened up about the painstaking process of bringing the film to life as practically as possible.
Gadot explains that “everything was super planned ahead” when tackling the big set pieces, including the “sets, locations, costumes, fight choreography, [and] the acting. She adds, “we wanted to have a minimum amount of CGI, so most of what you see is real people doing the real thing.”
“The wire work that we do at the mall and for the fight with Cheetah, I don’t think it’s been done before,” she continued. “People don’t do these types of wire-rigs anymore; they just do CGI. You can tell it’s the real deal; you can see by the facial expressions, the weight, the movement, the speed.”
