As the cast of The Flash continues to come together, it seems that Ben Affleck’s Batman may not be the only Justice Leaguer joining Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in the long-delayed DC Extended Universe solo movie.
According to a rumour from The Illuminerdi, Warner Bros. and director Andy Muschietti are looking to secure Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince for what is being described as a “small supporting role” in the film, which is based upon the fan favourite Flashpoint story arc from DC Comics lore.
This isn’t the first time that Gadot has been linked to the movie, as she was reported to have actually signed on to the project in 2017, back when The Flash was still scheduled for release in 2020. The film has since passed through the hands of filmmaking duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Game Night) before It helmer Muschietti came on board to direct a new draft of the script by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson.
Wonder Woman does play a significant role in the original Flashpoint comic book storyline, with Diana leading the Amazons in a war with Aquaman and the Atlanteans in the alternate universe that Barry Allen creates when he travels back in time to save his mother. It’s unclear however as to how much of the comic book storyline Muschietti plans to incorporate into the film, and so her role in the movie adaptation may be completely different.
Should this rumour prove true, Gadot will become the latest addition to a cast that includes Ezra Miller (Barry Allen), Ben Affleck (Batman), Billy Crudup (Henry Allen) and Michael Keaton (Batman). Ray Fisher has also reportedly received an offer to appear as Cyborg, although this has been complicated by the actor’s ongoing dispute with Warner Bros. over Joss Whedon’s alleged behaviour on the set of Justice League.
The Flash is set for release on November 4th, 2022.
