The nominations for the 70th annual Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced today, with Game of Thrones leading the field with 22 nominations, followed closely by fellow HBO show Westworld on 21.
However, HBO has to settle for second place in terms of the most nominations – for the first time in 17 years – with its 108 nods edged out by Netflix’s 112.
Both Game of Thrones and Westworld contest Best Drama Series along with The Handmaid’s Tale, Stranger Things, The Americans and This Is Us, while Atlanta, Barry, Black-ish, Curb Your Enthusiasm, GLOW, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Silicon Valley and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are up for Best Comedy Series.
