Out of the many pieces of speculation regarding the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, one of the questions has been whether or not audiences will get the season this year or next. Well, it has now been confirmed by HBO that winter won’t come again until 2019.
Sophie Turner recently said 2019 would be when Game of Thrones would have air its final season, but it wasn’t fully confirmed until now. At that time, they had just finished their read-through of the season in what Turner described as an emotional scene. “We had the read-through a while ago and at the end of it, we were all on our feet, applauding and crying. We had everyone there, everyone who’s had any part in this. It was amazing.”
Kit Harington also recently spoke about the pressure behind the final season, saying “Whereas before, every year there’s always been a bit of pressure, this season is one where we could easily let people down. Obviously, we don’t want to do that so we’re very much stepping up everyone’s game which is very apparent, at least to me. We’re all growing a bit and I think everyone’s attention is very focused on what we’re doing in a way that it’s always been, but it may be more apparent.”
Now that Game of Thrones is taking a year break to film the final season, the pressure is indeed on as many fans will be clamouring even more to find out what happens and who will sit on the Iron Throne at the end.
What do you think about this? Are you upset to wait another year or glad Game of Thrones will take its time for the eighth and final season?
