Gamescom trailer for Permafrost delivers a chilly welcoming

August 23, 2024 by Andrew Newton

SpaceRocket Games and publisher Toplitz Productions have revealed their new Gamescom trailer for their upcoming PC survival game Permafrost. This new trailer (see below) showcases the cold beauty of a world drastically changed by the destruction of our Moon and what players will have to do to survive in it.

After the Earth’s Moon breaks apart, the Earth is plunged into a new ice age where surviving the sub-zero temperatures of a world covered in ice will be the main objective for players in the world of Permafrost. Although stunningly beautiful to look at, the game’s bleak open-world landscape will make for an exceptionally challenging time for players as they defend against the brutal elements, hungry wild animals and hostile factions who want any available resources to themselves.

Players will be able to explore the open world with a canine companion and search through the abandoned towns and frozen cities for potential resources. On their journey survivors will be able to repurpose salvaged machinery to create tools to make their lives easier and their safety more possible. The world is a more hostile place and survivors can make use of a variety of primitive weapons, firearms and traps to fight off other hostile humans or natural predators.

Permafrost will provide players with the freedom and opportunity to choose their own path, whether it is banding together to rebuild society or create a new one, or to walk headlong into that blizzard and build a home in the unforgiving wilderness.

Permafrost will arrive on Steam for PC in 2025.
