Almost ten years on from its third series, James Corden and Ruth Jones have announced that the much-loved British comedy Gavin & Stacey is set to return for a one-off Christmas Special this December 25th.
“Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like,” reads a joint statement from Corden and Jones. “And so in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one hour special. We’ve loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy. We’re so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas. Thank you BBC for helping to make this happen.”
In addition to Corden and Jones, the Christmas Special will see the return of Gavin and Stacey themselves, Mathew Horne and Joanna Page, along with the likes of Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb, Melanie Walters and Alison Steadman.
Created by Corden and Jones, Gavin & Stacey premiered in 2007 and ran for three series and a Christmas Special, the final episode airing on New Year’s Day 2010.
