Adam Sandler is teaming up with another 90s icon for a new Netflix film. In a new report from Deadline, the outlet reports Sandler will co-star alongside George Clooney in a movie from director Noah Baumbach.
Throughout their prolific careers, this Noah Baumbach/Netflix movie would mark the first time the movie stars will work together. Clooney is fresh off directing Boys in the Boat, starring Calum Turner and Joel Edgerton, while Sandler kept busy this year with projects like Murder Mystery 2 and You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah.
Little details about the still-untitled project have come out, but the Deadline report notes the film will be a “funny and emotional coming-of-age film about adults.”
Noah Baumbach is riding a bit of a career high right now; Baumbach has an exclusive deal with Netflix, having previously directed the Sandler-led The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), Marriage Story, and most recently, White Noise. He also co-wrote 2023’s highest-grossing movie, Barbie, with partner Greta Gerwig.
Baumbach co-wrote this movie’s script with actress & filmmaker Emily Mortimer. Baumbach, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing.
At the time of reporting, Netflix had yet to comment on the project.
