Back in January it was announced that Jason Reitman, son of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman, is set to revisit the original continuity of the 1980s movies with a brand new instalment in the Ghostbusters franchise, and now the filmmaker has taken to Twitter to announce the start of production on what is currently being referred to as Ghostbusters 2020.

Joining the Reitmans in the above photo are Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), who are set to portray a family at the centre of the new story. Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame) has also signed on to portray a small town teacher, and while we’re yet to get confirmation on the return of Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz) and Ernie Hudson (Winstone Zeddemore), both Signourney Weaver (Dana Barrett) and Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz) have suggested that they will be reprising their roles.
Ghostbusters 2020 is set for release on July 10th 2020.
