Ghostbusters 3 is looking to be more and more real as each day goes by after the new rumours that Ruben Fleischer is in talks to direct. While he is yet to be confirmed, he is not directing Marvel’s Ant-Man which he was also in line for. But in terms of writing, former Deadline Hollywood reporter (and founder) Nikki Finke reported that Chronicle‘s Max Landis was set to work on the script.
Finke’s post, which has since been removed, claimed that Sony was impressed with Landis’ script for Victor Frankenstein and hired him to cast his eye over the script for Ghostbusters 3. According to Finke, Landis would be doing “more of a polish than a page 1 rewrite”
However, this was quickly squashed by Landis himself.
Shortly after the post was set out into the Internet and news sites picked it up, Landis took to Twitter to squash the rumours:
Hey guys, it pains me to say this, but you know I pride myself on being straight up person. Zero truth to the Ghostbusters report.

Frankenstein, Me Him Her, American Ultra and Mr. Right come out next year. Working on things at Uni and Sony, and indies. GB3, sadly, no.

The weirdest thing is it appears the big properties I have put in work on remain secret, yet Wonder Woman and Ghostbusters get reported?

I guess that’s just the industry man. Something strange in the neighborhood.

Ghostbusters 3 is rumoured to be starting production later this year or early 2015. Original stars Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett), Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stanz), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore) and Rick Moranis (Louis Tulley) are expected to return.
