Before the franchise returns to the big screen next year for its (latest) revival, Fathom Events has announced that it is bringing the original Ghostbusters back to the big screen this October.
As reported by Bloody Disgusting, the classic 1984 comedy will be screening across 600 theaters in the United States for two nights on Sunday, October 6th and Thursday, October 10th
That’s not all however, as the 35th Anniversary celebration “will feature an introduction that reunites key members of the cast of this iconic film, sharing the memories of making a film that remains a cultural touchstone, and will also include newly unearthed and rarely seen alternate takes from famous scenes.”
Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as the titular team of paranormal experts, along with Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts and William Atherton.
Sony is keeping it in the family with Ghostbusters 2020, which is being directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II helmer Ivan Reitman, and is set for release in July 2020. As yet, there’s no confirmation on returning cast members, but the film will star Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), and Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame).
