Illfonic has unveiled the roadmap for year 2 of their 4v1 haunt-or-hunt asymmetrical multiplayer Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. This year will provide more of a focus on interactive play as well as introducing the latest Ghostbusters villain from the upcoming Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
There are four major DLCs planned for release this year with the first coinciding with the release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. This first DLC brings Garraka, master of the Death Chill to the game, players will either have the chance to work together to defeat him or will be able to play the spectre and create a new ice age. There will also be the addition of more Ghostbuster gear, including Proton Packs, uniforms and more.
This summer will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ghostbusters with a variety of different Slimers, including his classic look and a Frozen Empire appearance, and we all know you can’t go wrong with Slimer. Further into 2024 will bring more Ghostbuster cosmetic items, a ghastly ghost and a Bounty for the Ages.
“We have been so focused on building an immersive world, one fans would recognize and appreciate,” remarks Jared Gerritzen, Chief Creative Officer at IllFonic. “Our goal now is to double down on the feel. As a long-time Ghostbusters fan, I want to feel immersed. Our drive for DLC year two: heighten the fun, heighten the experience.”
This year is going to be great for Ghostbusters fans, so if you are one of those wonderful people who feel good by bustin’ ghosts then stay tuned to Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire finds the Spengler family returning to where it all started, the iconic New York City firehouse, to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters, new and old, must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire sees McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim reprise their Afterlife roles alongside series veterans Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd with franchise newcomers Kumail Nanjiani, James Acaster and Patton Oswalt.
