It looks like the upcoming eleventh season of The X-Files could be the last time we see Fox Mulder and Dana Scully together, as Gillian Anderson has revealed to Screen Rant that she thinks the latest batch of episodes will be her final outing as the FBI Special Agent.
“No, no, I think this will be it for me,” said Anderson when asked by the outlet if she’s open to returning for a twelfth season, before explaining why she decided to reprise the role for season eleven: “It felt like it wasn’t over. It didn’t feel like we necessarily deliver everything the fans were expecting of us last time, and so it was that.”
The first trailer for season eleven of The X-Files debuted at New York Comic Con, and you can watch it here. The show is slated to premiere on Fox in early 2018, with the returning Anderson and David Duchovny joined by Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Barbara Hershey and Brian Huskey.
