Fresh off her Golden Globe-winning turn as Margaret Thatcher in The Crown, actress Gillian Anderson has now lined up a guest role in the Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult-led period comedy-drama The Great.
The news was revealed through the official Twitter account for the Hulu series, with Anderson set to take on the role of Joanna, the mother of Fanning’s Catherine the Great. She will appear in a two-episode guest spot in season two, which is yet to receive a premiere date.

Anderson will next be seen in the third season of Netflix’s Sex Education, while she also recently signed on to portray Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in Showtime’s upcoming drama The First Lady.
