Gina Rodriguez to voice Carmen Sandiego in Netflix animated series

April 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Fresh from signing on for the Miss Bala remake, Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez is set to lend her voice to the title character in Netflix’s upcoming animated series Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?.

The Tracking Board reports that Netflix as ordered 20 episodes of the series, which – as with the video game series in which it is based – aims to be as educational as it is entertaining.

The franchise launched in 1985 with the release of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? from Brøderbund Software, where the aim of the game was for players to track down Carmen – a criminal mastermind – by solving a series of clues and cases.

The game spawned a host of sequels, as well as a TV game show, animated series, books, games and more. There has also been several attempts to bring the franchise to the big screen, with both Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Lopez attached at various points.
