Following on from the current series of crossover one-shots pitting the King of the Monsters against some of its most iconic heroes, Marvel Comics and Toho have announced that they will reunite once more this July for the five-part epic event Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Javier Garrón.
Written by Gerry Duggan with art from Javier Garron, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe will see Godzilla pitted against the entire might of Marvels superheroes (and villains), and promises to include a showdown between Godzilla and a Celestial, a ground-shaking battle with the Hulk, and a horrifying symbiote boding itself to the King of the Monsters.
“Godzilla was as important to me as Marvel Comics growing up,” Duggan shared. “My father enjoyed watching baseball on TV, and I would root for rain outs so the NYC stations would run a Godzilla movie. When I discovered that Godzilla had appeared in the Marvel Universe, I obsessively collected every issue. I can’t believe how lucky I am to be contributing to the tradition of Godzilla rampaging in the Marvel Universe. This is the very biggest event of the summer, and everyone is getting in on the action. Javier Garrón is doing the very best work of his career, and this will be an immortal comic book. Get ready to run for your life this July!”
