Last month, author R.L. Stine announced that production was underway on the Goosebumps sequel, revealing that the movie was going under the title Goosebumps: Slappy Halloween.
Well, at CinemaCon yesterday, Sony confirmed that the film has undergone a name change, and is now being referred to as Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that the sequel will follow three young friends who have to team up to stop Slappy the dummy from starting the Halloween apocalypse.
Ari Sandel (The DUFF) is directing from a script by Rob Lieber (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day), while the cast includes Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Ben O’Brien (Manchester By the Sea), Caleel Harris (Think Like a Man), Jeremy Ray Taylor (It), Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), Ken Jeong (The Hangover) and Chris Parnell (30 Rock).
It had been thought that Goosebumps star Jack Black would be reprising his voice role as Slappy, however Sony announced during the presentation that the character was being voiced by puppeteer Avery Jones.
Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween is set for release on October 12th 2018.
