Another iconic Batman villain is headed to Fox’s Gotham! According to TVLine, future District Attorney and coin-flipping supervillain Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face, is headed to the series and will be played by Masters of Sex and Heroes alum Nicholas D’Agosto.
D’Agosto has landed a recurring role as Dent, with the option to become a series regular if Gotham gets picked up for a second season (which, judging by the ratings for the first two episodes, is highly likely). He’ll debut as “an idealistic Assistant District Attorney” whose described as “handsome, warm and engaging.” He will apparently “constantly maintain a sunny disposition even when dealing with the city’s seediest riffraff.”
Personally, I couldn’t be more excited about this news. Two-Face is one of my favorite comic book villains, and the story of Harvey Dent’s fall from grace is nearly as iconic and important as Bruce Wayne’s journey to becoming Batman. The writers will have to tread very carefully with Harvey’s story though, as we wouldn’t want them jumping the gun on the Two-Face transformation. Harvey’s fall is one of the most important events in Bruce’s career as Batman, and while it may be tempting to turn D’Agosto into Two-Face during Gotham‘s run, I could see a lot of diehard fans (including myself) getting upset about it.
What do you think of this news? Are you happy to hear that Harvey Dent is coming to Gotham, and that D’Agosto is playing him?
Gotham airs in the US on Fox on Monday nights in the US. It debuts in the UK on Monday, October 13th at 9pm.
