Sony and Playstation Productions want to bring the world of Gran Turismo to life, and the cast is starting to fill out with a story from The Hollywood Reporter noting that Djimon Hounsou and one of the iconic Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell-Horner, will join the film.
Hounsou is a very busy actor, appearing in numerous films in the last few years, and will be seen next in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, as well as Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, which recently wrapped shooting.
For Geri Halliwell-Horner, THR notes this is a “rare narrative screen appearance.” She is best known for her work in the musical group Spice Girls, where they sold over 100 million records. The group did star in the camp classic Spice World, so Halliwell-Horner could bring much-needed camp to the film.
Leading Gran Turismo will be David Harbour and Archie Madekwe, and the supporting cast includes Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski, Thomas Kretschman, Orlando Bloom, and Darren Barnett.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the film is described as “the ultimate wish-fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player (Madekwe) whose gaming skills won him a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race-car driver.”
Gran Turismo is set to hit theaters on August 11th, 2023.
