Greta Gerwig to direct self-penned Lady Bird

Frances Ha star Greta Gerwig is set to direct her own self-penned script Lady Bird, reports Deadline.

Gerwig, who co-written both Frances Ha and Mistress America with director Noah Baumbach as well as co-directing Nights and Weekends with Joe Swanberg, is to direct her own script with IAC Films producing and financing the film. But while Gerwig will be involved behind the camera, she won’t be appearing in front of it.

Mistress America is released in the US and UK next Friday, August 14th.
