Last month it was announced that Legendary Pictures had secured the big screen rights to Pokemon following a heated bidding war, announcing a live-action adaptation of the hit Japanese video game Detective Pikachu.
Well, it looks like Legendary has now found its screenwriters, with Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) in talks to pen the script for the film, which is expected to go into production next year.
This is another high profile gig for Perlman, who is currently penning Captain Marvel for Marvel Studios alongside Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), and is also working on the third Sherlock Holmes movie for director Guy Ritchie.
Pokemon has enjoyed a surge in popularity lately thanks to the huge success of the augmented reality game Pokemon Go.
