Any DC Comics fan will tell you that Guillermo del Toro’s Justice League Dark was near the top of their wish list and it seems like the project is still on del Toro’s mind since he just opened up about it during a recent interview.
In Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, the filmmaker teased where he was pulling inspiration from for Justice League Dark. Not surprisingly, it sounds perfect.
“I took a little bit of the opening of the Alan Moore Constantine. And I took the dynamics between Abby [Arcane] and Swamp Thing. And I took the sort of revelatory moments when Deadman gets into a body; how he would experience the consciousness of that being. And one of my all-time favorites is the demon Etrigan. I love that character. So you try to put them together. Zatanna is really, for me, another character that is really effortlessly powerful and interesting. So trying to mix that with Klarion the Witch Boy…”
Sadly, this project will likely never come out, but at least DC fans can get a taste of what Guillermo del Toro had in store for them. The filmmaker is fresh off his dark new film Nightmare Alley [read our review here] and is currently in post-production for an upcoming Pinocchio adaptation.
