Having enjoyed success at the Golden Globes and PGA Awards, Guillermo del Toro added the Directors Guild of America’s Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film award to his mantelpiece last night at the DGA Awards, putting the filmmaker firmly in the driving seat for Best Director at the Oscars with his fantasy romance The Shape of Water.
Also honoured by the DGA were Jordan Peele (First Time Feature Award for Get Out), Reed Morano (Dramatic Series for The Handmaid’s Tale), Jean-Marc Vallee (Miniseries for Big Little Lies), Beth McCarthy Miller (Comedy Series for Veep) and Niki Caro (Children’s Series for Anne with an E).
