Despite being a box office failure and critically panned by critics and audiences alike, Halle Berry has revealed that she would be interested in developing a remake of 2004’s Catwoman, in which she starred as the titular character.
During an interview with Jake’s Takes to promote her directorial debut with Bruised [read our review here], Berry was asked what film she would like to recreate knowing what she knows now as a director, to which she replied with Catwoman would be the ideal film for her to revisit.
When asked more about what changes she would make, she said she would “have Catwoman saving the world like most male superheroes do and not just saving women from their faces cracking off.” Berry added that she would like to make it “more inclusive of both men and women.”
Although Catwoman was a failure, there have been several renditions of Selina Kyle on the small and big screen since 2004, including Anne Hathaway in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, Camren Bicondova in the TV series Gotham and Zoë Kravitz providing the voice of the character in The Lego Batman Movie. Kravitz has also been cast as Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring opposite Robert Pattinson.
