Harold Ramis’ daughter on the possibility of a CGI Egon in Ghostbusters 3

July 31, 2017 by Gary Collinson

While it seemed that the passing of Harold Ramis in 2014 had put an end to any hope of a new Ghostbusters movie featuring the original cast, director Ivan Reitman teased the possibility of a new live-action feature last weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con, as well as suggesting Ramis’ Egon Spengler could feature through the use of CGI.

During an interview with THR, Ramis’ daughter Violet Ramis Stiel discussed the possibility of her father being digitally created, as well as stating that it would have her blessing if done correctly:

“It’s bizarre,” said Ramis Stiel. “Personally, for me, it is hard to imagine that people would accept it, but who knows. The technology now is amazing. I try to think what would he have thought. If it’s great and it works, then good. And if there is a problem, then obviously no.”

It seems that we could be on the verge of seeing more and more deceased actors making their return to the big screen thanks to digital trickery, such as that employed on Peter Cushing’s Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

How would you feel about Harold Ramis being digitally recreated for a new Ghostbusters? Could the film move ahead without Egon? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
