Last week it was revealed that Harrison Ford suffered an injury on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII when he was crushed by the door of the Millennium Falcon, and it has now been confirmed that Ford has broken his ankle and will miss up to eight weeks of filming.
Despite the setback, production is set to continue on the eagerly-anticipated sequel without Ford, and Disney is apparently confident of being able to meet its planned December 18th 2015 release date.
Ford is joined in the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII by returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), while newcomers to the galaxy far, far away include Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) and Max von Sydow (The Exorcist).
