Last week it was announced that The Simpsons has been renewed by Fox for a twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth season, but the animated series will be missing one of its most prominent voice actors, with Harry Shearer revealing that he’s left the long-running animated sitcom.
Shearer, who voices a host of characters including the likes of Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, Mr Burns, Waylon Smithers, Lenny, Kent Brockman, Reverend Lovejoy and Julius Hibbert, revealed the news on Twitter, suggesting that his exit is down to a disagreement with The Simpsons producers, stating that: “This is because I wanted what we’ve always had: the freedom to do other work.”
Considering the sheer amount of characters that Shearer voices, this surely raises big questions about how The Simpsons will work around his departure…
