Hayao Miyazaki’s latest and last Studio Ghibli film has been shrouded in secrecy for months, and even though The Boy and the Heron has already grossed $50 million at the Japanese box-office, we’re still yet to see much of the magic that awaits us, until now….
Like much of The Boy and the Heron‘s pre-release marketing, the first “pre-teaser” gives very little away, but U.S. distributor GKids has announced that the first official English-language teaser-trailer will be released on September 6th.
The film will receive its North American debut at next week’s Toronto International Film Festival, and has also been announced as part of October’s BFI London Film Festival. Check out the teaser below…
Through encounters with his friends and uncle, The Boy and the Heron follows a teenage boy’s psychological development as he enters a magical world with a talking grey heron after finding an abandoned tower in his new town.
The Boy and the Heron will open in U.S. theatres later this year.
