There’s been talk for a couple of years now that HBO is keen on developing a spinoff to its hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, and now comes word that the cable network is planning not one but FOUR potential offshoots.
Deadline reports that Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff will be attached as executive producers alongside A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R.R. Martin, but will not be involved in the writing. Instead, those duties will fall to:
Max Borenstein (Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island)
Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, Kingsman and X-Men franchises), George R. R. Martin
Brian Helgeland (Mystic River, A Knights Tale)
Carly Wray (Mad Men), George R.R. Martin
Details on the projects are being kept under wraps, but each will “explore different time periods of George R. R. Martin’s vast and rich universe”. It’s also said that there is no set timetable for them, and each project will be evaluated when the scripts are completed.
