HBO Max’s upcoming The Penguin series, a spin-off of The Batman from Matt Reeves, has cast its female lead. Joining Colin Farrell in the series is Cristin Milioti (Made For Love) as Sofia Falcone.
Sofia Falcone is the daughter of Carmine ‘The Roman’ Falcone, played in The Batman by John Turturro. Introduced in Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s Batman: The Long Halloween, Sofia is very loyal to her father and was being groomed to take his place as head of the Gotham City’s mafia.
With Carmine Falcone dead by the end of The Batman, the film hinted that the power vacuum would start a struggle within the criminal element for those wanting to gain power, giving Falcone’s former right-hand man Oswald ‘The Penguin’ Cobblepot an opening to take charge. The Penguin will see him and Sofia Falcone fighting for control of Gotham City.
Lauren LeFranc will serve as showrunner for HBO Max’s The Penguin with Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown) directing. The Batman‘s Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark are producing the series alongside Farrell, who will also executive produce.
