HBO renews The Deuce for a third and final season

September 24, 2018 by Gary Collinson

The Wire and Treme creator David Simon has announced on Twitter that HBO has renewed the porn industry drama The Deuce for a third and final season, which is expected to air in late 2019.

“We’re always conjuring the last scene before we write the first,” said Simon. “So much the better when we work for people who allow us to consistently plan, arc and execute as intended. Thanks, HBO, for the third and final season renewal and the chance for The Deuce to tell its full story.”

James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal lead the cast of The Deuce, which takes place in the 1970s and explores the legalisation and rise of the porn industry in New York City. The second season is currently airing on HBO, having premiered earlier this month.
