Deadline is reporting that Emmy-nominated director Andrew Bernstein (Fear the Walking Dead) has signed on to direct several episodes of HBO’s upcoming Stephen King adaptation The Outsider.
Bernstein has previous experience on a King-related project, having worked on the anthology series Castle Rock, while his other credits include Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and The Umbrella Academy.
The Outsider follows a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a local boy, which leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe to be real, as an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case.
Richard Price (The Night Of) has created the show and will executive produce alongside Jack Bender (Mr. Mercedes) and Jason Bateman (Ozark), while Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) leads a cast that also includes Cynthia Erivo (Bad Times at the El Royale), Bill Camp (The Looming Tower), Mare Winningham (George Wallace), Paddy Considine (The Ferryman), Julianne Nicholson (Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders), Yul Vázquez (I Am the Night), Jeremy Bobb (The Knick), Marc Menchaca (Ozark), Hettienne Park (Hannibal) and Michael Esper (Trust).
