Following the news that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s Jeremy Irons has joined HBO’s Watchmen pilot, TVLine is now reporting additional casting for the potential series. Sleepy Hollows lead star Tom Mison has gained a role in the comic book adaptation.
Mison isn’t the only one who is now joining the series as Frances Fisher (Titanic) and Jacob Ming-Trent (White Famous) have also been cast in the pilot, though their roles, like many of the other actors, are being kept under wraps.
Mison, Fisher and Ming-Trent join a cast that already includes Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk), Louis Gossett Jr. (Roots), Adelaide Clemens (The Great Gatsby), Andrew Howard (Limitless) and now Jeremy Irons, with Damon Lindelof (Lost) serving as executive producer.
The series will not be a straight adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ seminal comic book epic, but rather a new, original story set within the same world and taking place after the events of the graphic novel.
“Some of the characters will be unknown,” Lindelof previously revealed. “New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising yet familiar set of eyes…and it is here we will be taking our greatest risks.”
