It’s time to clean up your act with Pokémon GO! Niantic and Playmob are joining forces to bring you the first Pokémon GO Earth Day clean up initiative on April 22nd – in association with the Mission Blue Foundation (marine conservation) and other NGO’s around the world. Trainers can sign up to events in their local areas and band together to round up the trash, in the hope of raising public awareness and support this Earth Day.
What do you mean, ‘what do I get out of it’? That’s not what it’s about! Alright, fine…All Trainers receive access to a special Earth Day avatar and those do-gooders that participate, not only unlock in-game bonuses and rewards for themselves – but for the entire world of Trainers, including those sitting on their butts.
- 1,500 players cleaning up trash around the world will unlock 2x Stardust when catching Ground, Water, and Grass-type Pokémon for 48 hours.
- 3,000 players cleaning up trash around the world unlock 3x Stardust when catching Ground, Water, and Grass-type Pokémon for 48 hours.
