Hearthstone Winter Championship kicks off this Thursday

February 25, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Blizzard has announced that the Hearthstone Winter Championship will start this Thursday at the Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles.  At this event 16 of the world’s best Hearthstone players will fight it out for one of the four remaining spaces at the Hearthstone CT World Championship being held this coming April, as well as the title of HCT Winter Champion and the lion’s share of a whopping $250,000 prize pool.

The event, which runs from 28th February to 3rd March, will see 16 players representing Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and China.  Representing Europe are Raphael “BunnyHoppor” Peltzer and Torben “Viper” Wahl from Germany, Oldřich “Faeli” Mahdal from the Czech Republic, and Fatih “ThunderUP” Akduman from Turkey.

As with previous eSports events, players will be able to choose a champion and earn card packs during the event with all participants receiving one Rastakhan’s Rumble card pack just for choosing a champion; they can then earn one additional pack each time their champion advances to the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.  To choose a champion head off to the Hearthstone website here.

Esports fans can tune in and watch the action live on the Hearthstone Twitch channel at 17:30 CET 28th February.
