According to Entertainment Weekly, Helena Bonham Carter is nearing a deal to star as Princess Margaret in the third and fourth seasons of Netflix’s drama series The Crown.
The acclaimed drama is set to revamp its cast with older actors as the story moves forward to 1965 and beyond. Bonham Carter will replace Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret, while Olivia Colman is set to take over from Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II.
Bonham Carter has of course previously portrayed Princess Margaret’s mother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, in 2010’s The King’s Speech, receiving Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for her performance, as well as the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress.
The first two seasons of The Crown are available now on Netflix, and feature a cast that includes Claire Foy, Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, Eileen Atkins, Victoria Hamilton, Jeremy Northam , Ben Miles, Greg Wise, Jared Harris, JOhn Lithgow and Matthew Goode.
