Could Henry Cavill make his way back into the DCEU? Cavill can return as quickly as this month if new reports are to be believed.
Along with Shazam, Black Adam is famous for facing off with the Man of Steel, and so there’s been rumblings of a Superman appearance in the Black Adam movie for a month. At the very least, many fans hoped for a cameo, and it looks like we could see it as part of an end credits sequence.
Multiple industry professionals have made this claim, with one of the earliest dating back to Grace Randolph on Beyond The Trailer. The scooper hinted that Cavill would return in a small but critical role in Black Adam. Even recently, the Marvelvision podcast claims Henry Cavill is back in the role of Superman for the cameo and possibly a brand-new Superman feature film.
And who can we thank for the return of the Man of Steel? It seems like Dwayne Johnson can be the person responsible for this.
The Marvelvision went into further detail: “The reason why Henry Cavill has returned as Superman in Black Adam is because [Johnson] demanded it. Like, he went hard, full-court press on Warner Bros. and made them go to Henry Cavill, and they had to sign a new deal with Henry Cavill, including saying they were gonna develop a new Superman movie. And it was all because The Rock insisted.”
Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill have a pretty well-known working relationship. Not only do the pair collaborate on business ventures, but Cavill is even represented by Johnson’s ex-wife and business partner Dany Garcia.
Will we see Superman in Black Adam? We’ll find out when Black Adam arrives in theaters on October 21st.
Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) and sees Dwayne Johnson starring alongside Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari as Ishmael, Bodhi Sabongui as Amon and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
