Go where no other DC movie has ever gone. The first trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux promises a comic book adaptation unlike anything.
In the first look at Todd Phillips’s follow-up to the Academy Award-winning Joker, Joaquin Phoenix finds a dangerous companion in the form of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
Before debuting the teaser, Phillips spoke to the audience at the event and was grateful to be there. “I always meant to come here and thank you,” said the filmmaker.
Set against the iconic song “What the World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love,” the clown duo runs the streets and even meets up in what looks to be the infamous Arkham Asylum. Check out the trailer below…
Joaquin Phoenix reprises his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck/Joker, along with Zazie Beetz’s Sophie, while other new additions to the cast for the sequel include Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) as Harley Quinn and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), Harry Lawtey (Industry), Catherine Keener (The Adam Project), Jacob Lofland (Mud), Steve Coogan (Philomena) and Ken Leung (Lost) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
The new film carries an R rating for “strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality, and brief full nudity,” per the MPA.
Joker: Folie À Deux is slated to release on October 4th, 2024.
