According to Entertainment Weekly, Jason Eisener – director of 2011’s Hobo with a Shotgun – has signed on to helm an adaptation of Robert Huszar and Ken Landgraf’s underground comic book series New York City Outlaws. The film is being scripted by Bryan Conolly and Zack Carlson and follows “a group of vigilantes who join forces to rescue NYC from total anarchy during a prolonged police strike.”
Eisener’s directorial debut Hobo with a Shotgun was based upon the winning trailer from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse contest and saw Rutger Hauer in the lead a homeless man who turns to vigilantism in order to battle crime and corruption. He followed it up with the ‘Slumber Party Alien Abduction’ segment of V/H/S/2, and is currently directing second unit on Adam Wingard’s Death Note adaptation.
