Earlier this year, Disney announced they are developing a long-awaited sequel to the to ’90s cult classic, Hocus Pocus, with Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Step Up) serving as director.
While there has been speculation if the original cast of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy would return for the sequel, in a recent interview on SiriusXM, Parker revealed the trio are open to the idea of reprising their respective roles.
“I think that is something that Bette, Kathy, and I are very hospitable to the idea and I think for a long time people had been talking about it as if people were moving forward with it in a real way but we were unaware of it,” Parker said. “I think now we have gotten to the point where we all have agreed publicly to the right people that ‘Yes, that would be a very, very fun idea.’ So we’ll see what the future holds.”
The sequel is set to be written by Workaholics writer and co-producer Jen D’Angelo, however, there are currently no further details on the cast or plot.
The original 1993 fantasy comedy was directed by Kenny Ortega and saw Midler, Parker, and Najimy playing three witches who find themselves resurrected in present-day Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween.
